the 1st. The walled town of Beaumaris is steeped in history including
The Tudor Rose – a half-timbered domestic house circa 1400,
now a shop. Ye
Olde Bull's Head Restaurant (1626) was once the headquarters
of Oliver Cromwell, and was visited by Charles Dickens and Dr Samuel
Johnson on many occasions.
There is also a Victorian Courthouse at which the infamous hanging
Judge Jeffrey presided and gaol with working treadmill (1829). There
is also a Victorian Pier and interesting shops. Beaumaris is also
home to the historic Royal
Anglesey Yacht Club, a family friendly yacht club which has
been in existence since 1885 when Queen Victoria granted the Royal
Warrant.
